Witold Winek
I primarily work with relief print, but also do oil paintings. What’s important to me are raw, unyielding forms. A simple and readable plastic language. “Space’s memory” has become an impulse to my practice. This memory is analysed anthropologically and redefined through theories hailing from science-fiction films. Symbols and signs from walls of sepulchres or caves, megalithic stones, primordial sky maps – are all inspirations, elements of mystery, a secret close to my prints.

Krakow Academy of Fine Arts, 2008– 2013, Printmedia, Woodcut under Professor Bogdan Miga.
Since 2015 . – doctoral candidate at the Pedagogical University KEN in Krakowie, Art department under Professor Marcin Pawłowski.

• 2012 r. – first prize at a print competition organized by Krakow Academy of Fine Arts – a piece called “Bete Noire”
